We are currently seeking a talented professional to become Director of Clean Hydrogen Business Development in the Linde Gases US organization. This person is accountable to develop high level relationships and develop strategic business opportunities with large companies looking to decarbonize their operations or provide products or services in the clean energy space. Primary markets of focus will be clean hydrogen for mobility, industrial applications, stationary generation, and the power generation industry. This position will work closely with region leadership, sales, Linde Engineering, product management, business development, legal, quality assurance, and customer service. Goals will include both immediate business development accountability as well as long team positioning such as development of partnership agreements, joint ventures, and establishing Linde as a strategic supplier to key customers.
This role requires a thorough understanding of complex product supply agreements and project development. Knowledge of application technologies, market dynamics, and strong business development skills are desired.
The chosen candidate will report to the VP of Marketing and Product Management. Position will have responsibility for leading cross functional teams to develop strategic customer relationships, form partnerships for clean hydrogen supply, and create action plans and tools to profitably grow Linde’s clean hydrogen business.
Position location preferred in The Woodlands, TX. Position has no direct reports.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Indirect accountability for revenue growth across all sales regions, expected to grow to $60M+ in 3 -5 yrs.
  • Direct management of major Fortune 500 accounts and relationships for Linde Gases US. Example customer types include large retailers with significant distribution fleets, heavy duty fuel cell truck manufacturers, national fueling retailers, large datacenter operators, etc…
  • Establish partnerships with clean hydrogen offtakers, equipment suppliers and others to accelerate Linde’s growth in the clean hydrogen space.
  • Develop senior level relationships between Linde and major clean energy customers (for self and executive leadership)
  • Understand customer requirements and provide available Linde resources to help them grow
  • Reporting of Linde business activity with major clean hydrogen customers
  • Monitor, analyze and report on market activity & trends, customer feedback and competitor activity to identify market opportunities and enhance US clean hydrogen business.
  • Conduct in-depth assessment of customers’ application needs as well as contracting, legal, operational and logistical requirements.
  • Build strong partnerships with internal stakeholders/resources including region leadership, sales, Linde Engineering, Linde Technology, Linde Hydrogen Fuel Tech (LHF), product management, region & national business development, quality assurance, logistics, operations, marketing communications, and customer service personnel.
  • Network within the clean hydrogen community; conferences, seminars, and face to face interaction.
  • Support participation in clean hydrogen advocacy groups and government relations efforts
  • Support efforts for external project funding (CEC, DOE, etc…) related to clean hydrogen utilization

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (marketing/business/engineering/technical), MBA preferred
  • 10-15+ years overall business and contracting experience
  • Knowledge of Linde’s products and services as well as Linde Product Supply Agreements
  • 10+ years related industrial gases experience preferred
  • Ability to travel ~30-50% required
